À propos

It started with a simple question.

What if getting unstuck could be as simple as rolling a dice?

Musician's Dice began while founder Jim Griffiths was learning guitar and looking for a simple way to make practice less predictable.

The first experiments involved note names written on bottle caps and guitar picks, pulled at random from a bag whenever practice needed a new starting point.

It worked. But there had to be a better way.

From bottle caps to dice.

Adding chord qualities made the idea more useful - and considerably messier.

Multi-sided dice provided the answer: compact, physical and perfectly suited to making random selections.

Jim's background in developing branded products helped turn the idea into something real - custom jumbo dice, a simple guide, a small bag and packaging assembled by hand.

The first Musician's Dice packs were put together on the dining-room table.

One idea. Many instruments.

Music works differently under different hands.

Working in partnership with Justin Sandercoe - creator of JustinGuitar and a globally recognised guitar educator - and members of the JustinGuitar team, the original concept evolved into the four-dice Guitarist Edition.

This showed what becomes possible when the core Musician's Dice idea is developed specifically around one instrument.

That's why future Musician's Dice editions won't simply be the same product with a different instrument printed on the box.

Each edition starts with the same philosophy, then develops with people who truly understand that instrument and the musicians who play it.

Intentional design

Everything we do starts with why. Every detail should have a reason for being there.

Care in every detail

Thoughtful choices and quality materials, from concept to finished product.

Shaped by musicians

Purposeful products, shaped by real musical experience.

More than a practice tool.

We're excited by what happens when Musician's Dice move beyond individual practice - into lessons, classrooms, workshops, composition and collaborative music-making.

Our ambition is simple: to create thoughtful tools that encourage musicians to make decisions, explore ideas and discover more for themselves.

"If the dice help you practise differently, explore freely or rediscover enjoyment in playing, they're doing exactly what they were made for."

Roll. Respond. Play.
